New Surfboards in Maui

Steven and I with our new boards

Steven has been surfing for 47 years so needless to say he has a lovely collection of boards, both vintage and contemporary.  His latest quiver is being shaped by Tom Parrish, of Gerry Lopez Lightning Bolt fame.  He recently picked up a 7’5″ styro and I finally got my own surfboard, also by Tom.  It’s a lovely 9’10” sidewalk and although I may not deserve such a fine board, having only been surfing for about a year, and even then, it’s mostly been paddling, I love it and have been having a great time getting to know the beast.  It doesn’t like to go slow, it really seems to steady out when it’s going straight down the line on a nice, shoulder high wave.  I’ve only done that a few times, but it’s been a marvelous experience.  Our friend, Ron van Dongen took this great picture of us when he was here with his partner, David Rubin, last week.  Thanks for visiting!
